This report is for May 2020 after they reopened fishing during Covid.
After not fishing for months I was dying to get out so I loaded up the boat and headed to Pattison. I've always had OK success on Pattison, usually not lights out but not terrible either. Although I have had a few fishless days when it's hot or in wintertime.
What made this trip unique was I finally started dialing in on some strange patterns in the lake. If you look at the depth charts the main part of the lake maxes out around 15' deep. It's like fishing a big dinner plate. Fish didn't seem to care about edges or weeds... they are just kind of spread out, and the big ones are just cruising around the center. Don't bother trolling close to shore, it doesn't seem helpful.
The fish pictured is definitely my biggest Pattison trout to date but it wasn't a fluke... I've picked up others in the 2lb range. They seem to come in the center of the lake, nowhere near the shore. Stomach was PACKED with small red chironomids. This fish fell prey to a colorado spinner tipped w/ nightcrawler. We've also hooked them on dodger/macks blade or a pine/white #6 pistol pete.
