Hey Folks! I am super excited to be back on the water and fishing again, after our awesome Fall and Winter Upland bird season! Starting our guide season off, we focus on Trophy walleye fishing on the Columbia in the John Day Pool. Fishing pressure has been high and the bite seems to be a bit tougher this Spring due to the lack of flow in the Columbia. We have a bug snow pack, but the run-off has not started yet. When this happens, walleye are spread out in the system with now current to congregate them. This makes finding them a lot harder. We are still able to consistently catch big female spawners, but the eater males are spread from 10 feet to 50 feet and even deeper. We have been using all our tricks to hunt and catch these fish this year. Plug fishing the shallows to deep water jigging has been the trick. If interested in a walleye trip with us, give me a call and we can set you up. We will be fishing mid April and again from Mid May through June. I hope to see you out there!
