It’s been awhile since I’ve fished an Opening Day lake but this year the stars aligned so my wife JoAnn and I took our dogs over to Warden Lake for two days of fishing fun. It’s also been a long time since visiting the Seeps lakes so that was cool as well.
We fished both Saturday and Sunday. The results were the same – easy limits in under two hours.

I started off trying to run four rods, which was not necessary. We ended up running two rods with leaded lines, letting out 1 ½ to 2 colors and a 50 mono leader. A small sling blade, then a wiggle fin disc, and finally a kekeda fly. The purple set up was the hot rod but the orange got its share of fish. We trolled around 1.7 to 2.0 mph. Best action was on the far end of the lake. All fish were 12-14”.

The boat launch is rough, but its solid gravel and I had no troubles launching my 20 foot Thunderjet. The tricky part was retrieving it as there was a bit of breeze and the launch area is not sheltered. Even so, it wasn’t too difficult.

A fun lake, a nice weekend of fishing! We had a bit of rain Saturday morning but nothing to complain about. Definitely a nice Opening Day destination!

Nice but why add the wiggle fin behind the sling blade. Seems like one of the other would be sufficient?

I fished warden on sunday as well. I was visiting family in othello and decided to take my rods. Limited out fairly quick off the bank just south of the boat launch.
