First time Catch, Clean, Cook here in WA! Our family picked up a second kayak so I could have some company out on the water so my boys and I went out to test it out and find some trout. We launched around 2pm and paddled around a good bit getting lines tangled and fighting off the wakes from jet skis and reckless boats. We didn't get into any fish until around 4-5pm. What ended up working was a worm with a orange power bait on the tip of the hook all under a weight and bobber. At some point we switched to slip bobber and fished more at or just over the bottom. Ended the day keeping my limit and the kids kept 1 each for them selves. They didn't have enough fun when it was time to load up so they kept fishing from the boat launch and caught a handful of bass and crappie that were all released. We had a great day on the water and the smiles that my boys had at the end of the day made all the tangles untangled, knots untied, lost fish on hook sets and big wakes to fight all so worth it! 10/10 would recommend! Can't wait to get back on the water with them again.
