I gave it a 4 based on quality not quantity. Launched early out of Seaton's Grove and hit some of my most productive areas in past years. The bite was never hot but Mike and I managed to boat 10 eyes. Jigs and blade baits both produced. We never did find one bait or color that really worked. We kept 6 and released a 5, a 6 and a 8 lber, all females. Water temperature was 49 and I think the eyes are in the begging of the spawn. Additionally, we rescued a young eagle from the middle of the river. Me boat driving and Mike using the net we were able to get it to the shore. Couldn't tell if it was injured, definitely exhausted, but it at least had a chance to recover on shore.

That's awesome you guys were able to help that eagle!!!!!
I am heading to Rufus in a couple weeks for a week of Walleye hunting. I am sticking to the Chief Joseph Dam end of the lake. I hope to actually put a few fish in the box this trip.

NWB,
I'll admit I don't know Rufus all that well but the walleye bite is usually better this time of year. I am staying away from the Arm because I know it has probably been crazy after the last couple of reports that were posted. They were very specific which means those areas were going to be hit pretty hard.

Mark,
Glad you had some success over there! I went North and launched out of Northport Sunday and found al lot of smalleyes. My dad is flying out Thursday and I'm hoping to take him to Rufus probably Friday and then either the Arm or up to Northport again depending on how we do. I'm picking up a new to me boat on the West side tomorrow so don't be alarmed if you see a blue pro V175 guide pull up and and say Hi. I'm looking forward to having some windows to block the wind on those cold mornings. Shoot me an email if you don't mind and if your PM's are still down.

Hey Mark...always baffles and irritates me why people feel the need to post for the whole world to see! Your reports are always informative and appreciated, but you never give away the farm and I like that! Seeing reports with very specific details and pictures with obvious backgrounds is not cool...why you would want to invite the world to your spot/s and screw up other anglers makes no sense and is not cool!!

Exactly, I don't mind giving details but I am usually a little vague on purpose. Most of the better areas are small and I don't want to invite 15 other boats along for the ride. I do explain what I am using but part of the challenge is to explore these areas for yourself. My buddies and I have given out a lot of information at the boat launch to help people who are unfamiliar with these areas and we do so gladly. My buddy Glenn is always giving away jigs and grubs and swimbaits to people we talk to. It is the exact stuff we just used on the water. I have gladly given away a bunch of walleye fillets at the launch to people who didn't have much luck. And I enjoy helping people learn new techniques, it only increases the number of people who appreciate the great walleye fisheries we have in this area.

I am headed to Gifford this Thursday for the weekend to do some fishing and look at a few properties.
I never see any reports from the this part of lake and see very few boats when I am out (only been out twice so far) I am buying some acreage here to retire to in a few years so I will become very familiar with the Gifford launch and the fishery in the area! I greatly appreciate all the info I gather from you guys!

When the water is way down, Gifford doesn't work well with bigger boats as you're off the end of the ramp, docks are beached and it's all sand to make it easy to bury a rig.
Smaller boats would work OK. We fish it when the water levels come back up and you have ramps again.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I've had guys, no kidding, ask for my GPS numbers. If you need info that specific you aren't an angler IMO. I'll give specifics on gear (always leave a tidbit or two out) and general area, but that's all I give folks except those I consider inner circle trusted. :-)

Other than YJ and one or two other guides there are only a handful of us that fish the Arm and Ft Spokane areas year round. We put in the time and effort to learn where to fish depending on the time of year and we still have to work at it. I really do enjoy helping others learn about the excellent walleye fishing we have around here but let's face it, there are a lot of fair weather fishermen who won't put in the effort.

Our apologies. It wasn’t our intent to blow up your home lake. While I’m aware that the damage has already been done, the post has been deleted and we won’t be posting again. Good luck out there to you all.
