Decided to try Lake Howard, a small lake local to me that I had never been to before. Met my brother at the launch with the Hobies at 7am and began fishing.

A pretty heavy marine layer made it a bit chilly all morning, but we had a great time catching rainbows all morning. The morning started a bit slow searching for the right depth and the right lure combo to get bites. Once I figured it out, it was no more than 5 minutes between takedowns. Had quite a few get off somewhere on the way in and a lot of hits that didn't stick. We had quite a bit of action once we got into them. I think I landed 13 total, had at least another 5-7 that got off somewhere on the way in as well, on top of the strikes that didn't stick, and kept my 5. I actually wanted to keep fishing, but because in the end a double hooked God's Tooth 50/50 gold and a Reli Lures spinner in 50/50 gold was what was getting action for me, too many fish I didn't fell good about releasing so wound up finishing my limit sooner than I wanted.

Fish were hanging out between 15 and 20 feet. Lures were trailing a Mack's Lure 4 inch Double D dodger and a 4 inch Sling Blade.. 1.3 - 1.5 for the speed.
