What treat to fish midweek. (Now I'll play catch up in the office....but that's okay.) Thought because it was a Tuesday and overcast the Park and Lake would be uncrowded. Wrong. I think everyone who canoes, paddleboards, or kayaks was out today. But folks were friendly and stayed respectful.

We fished 12-5, 68 degrees, 66.8 water, overcast and 8-10 wind at times all the way down to flat calm briefly. The trout troll didn't produce anything initially. As last week produce a big bass, we decided to mostly plug the shorelines today. The peeps had begun moving so we targeted them hoping to just get a large body count. P succeeded catching and releasing 22 bass. K. boated 8 bass and 2 trout and me 2 trout and 10 bass and 1 red-ear.

We floated around while we barbecued lunch and then took off again searching for a lunker.

I was casting with my largest lure of the day and was rewarded with the largest red-ear I've ever boated. What a beauty. It's amazing to wonder what a small mouthed fish like a panfish thinks he'll do with a giant lure.

We made it around about half the perimeter of the lake and found fish almost everywhere. P. had on the largest largemouth of the day and lost it while netting, but we gave him credit as we all saw it - almost in the net.

I changed lures frequently but couldn't find a hot lure, except for the same one the last two weeks that produced all my fish. It too today brought my largest fish. We were actually trolling back to the launch ramp when I had a huge connect, hollered "Fish On" and out he jumped - easily a yard out of the water. Then he jumped a second time just as high. Now I said, "K get the net!" I could see it was one of the largest trout I'd ever boated here. Happily, he made it aboard and measured out at 16". It was really deep and had wide shoulders. I asked P. to get a picture of me and the fish. I took the hook out, picked him up and......................overboard he went. No, I promise....I really had a fantastic cutthroat - with no picture to prove it. Maybe P. and K. will vouch for me..........if I beg real hard.
