We intended to fish Point No Point but all the action seemed to be in front of Eglon. We got up nice and early to catch the morning bite but should have slept in a little. We were on the water by 430am and did a few passes in front of the lighthouse to start but we did not get any hits or even see a single fish on the sonar. We moved to the Eglon side and kept trolling at all different depths and constantly changed the downrigger depths to see if we could find the fish. The smoke seemed to really delay the morning bite but at about 9 am the sun finally got above the smoke over the cascades and then all of a sudden things came to life for about an hour and a half. In that time (and in order) we landed a 18" native King, a 21.5" native king, a 20" native Coho, and finally a fat 30" hatchery King. Strangely enough, all the fish hit in almost exactly 130' of water with downriggers right at 100'. We were running a green flasher and purple flasher with cut plug herring @ 2mph OTW for all the fish we hit. We tried lots of other combinations of lures, speeds, and depths as well but all the fish came in on this exact formula.
