This is actually a 2-day report for both Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th. I didn't post yesterday because I was too embarrassed but felt redeemed today so here it is:

Yesterday we hit Jeff Head in search of Kings. It was hot there last week and I got a text that it was still good, but we ended up torturing ourselves by putting in TEN hours on the water and ending up with 3 pinks (but big ones) and 1 small silver. There were lots of weeds and not a lot of fish marking and NO kings caught - not even natives! We pulled in thinking that the results would be the same, but heard SIXTY were caught, but on the west side by the oil docks with little action at Jeff Head. We went home pissed off at ourselves for picking the wrong side of the pond, but rallied and tried again today (Sunday) on the WEST side of the Sound.

This time we had our 1st legal king in the boat at 5:30am when it was still pitch dark. Caught our 2nd one at 6:20 - a large native that we released, had our 3rd in the boat before 7:20. It was a total circus at the oil docks - bad fog and people not paying attention, cutting each other off, etc. We blasted out of the area and tooled around for the next 4 hours in different spots of the west side trying to catch another 2 silvers, but got nothing but pinks, which we threw back. Finally tossed in the towel at 11 with 2 decent sized kings.

We could have (should have) wrapped it up at 7:30 and been the first ones back to the dock, but fishing is kind of like playing the slots...you always know it's going to be a pay-out the next time you put your rig down, but it usually doesn't happen.
