Launched the Hobie at 7am to a ripping ebb tide current, which made getting around the Jetty at Keystone interesting. The current was better once I got into the bay, but still pretty strong which made my plan of sight casting difficult as the current was taking me everywhere. Plus, for awhile I didn't see any surfacing fish either. Decided to troll the rotator around for awhile until the current calmed down, and wound up landing a nice fish this was. Once the tide started to shift from low to high, fish started rolling in and I was able to chase and cast to fish. got 1 very quick hook up and release on the first pod I saw, then on the 2nd pod I had a fish on for about 5-7 seconds before it hopped off. 3rd pod, got another strong fish on that was a bit stubborn in coming to the net. After a tussle, landed it and finished off my 2 fish limit.
Fun morning, and a lot of fun sight casting to fish. Cast out to where you think the fish will be when your line crosses their path, and you hook up about every time. Vacation week is over for me, so probably my last day chasing pinks in the salt. Can't wait for the coho to start showing up in some numbers!
Video shows the action from the morning.
