Headed up to Sekiu for some of those hooknose silvers on Labor day weekend. 3 of us fished Thursday afternoon, and Friday through Sunday. First day, we caught some nice 7-9 pound silvers and a couple of smaller ones with not many wild fish. The rest of the time it was 8 to 1 wild fish, back into the ocean with them, new bait and lines back in the water. There were several nice 10 pound wild fish and we caught many small kings. If we did not have a bite in 5 minutes, you could count on your bait being gone. Great fishing, took all day sometimes to get our limit of keepers but it was pretty much non-stop action. On Saturday, we headed up to Neah Bay to see if we could get outside to do some king/lingcod fishing and the weather was good so we headed down to Umatilla to do some seabass fishing. Great day with our limit of bottom fish and was even able to catch a couple of lingcod. Halibut fishing was open and we tried it off of Pillar point one day, but every time down we pulled up dogfish, sometimes 2 at once. We only lasted about an hour and gave that up. Great weekend of fishing, rained hard just one of the days. I will try to include the last fish we caught on Sunday, our biggest, probably close to 12 pounds.
