Debated between heading out to Whidbey to chase Coho or hitting the river 1 more time for pinks. After stopping at Holiday Sports and getting a report, one last trip to the river it was!

I met 3 other kayakers at the launch and we headed out about 6:15. We had a basic plan of where we wanted to fish. After about a hour and not much happening, I decided to head up river to another spot to check it out. Soon as I dropped anchor and made 2 casts, I got a call to hurry back, they had all moved to a slightly different spot and were laying into fish left and right. They weren't kidding. Once I got there, got anchored up, second cast, fish on. It would go like this the rest of the morning until I needed to stop and head home. Between the 4 of us, we easily hooked into more than 60 fish I am sure. My personal count was probably about 20, maybe a few more.

In the end I kept my 4, releasing or losing the rest. What worked for me were Elgin Fishing God's Tooth Spoons in pink and orange, set on slow action with a 1/2 ounce dipsey weight, and maybe 4ft of leader.

The fish are just starting to color up, but still some very fresh fish are mixed in as well. They will start turning quickly, if you want to get out now is the time before it's too late.

Video shows some of the action from the day. I cut a lot of fish out otherwise it would be too long.

Yeah they are in, thank you for inspiring me. After your last report, I went up there for the late afternoon/evening bite to a spot I know, ~2 hours of fishing and I caught 11 on a pink twitching jig. All biters, every single one, they are snappy. Love it! Great for kids or people new to salmon fishing!
