This report is for the mouth of the Kettle River. Went out with my girlfriend tonight and we killed it! Fished from 6pm to 9pm and got our limits quick. The spot is just downstream of the bridge. Casting into 60 ft water and letting our lures drift into the wall we cast off of. Biggest one of the night was 25 inches.
I went to Hawk Creek 2 nights ago and got jack. My thoughts are this: they are active surely but deeper. Having our lures in the main channel at kettle (60 ft) compared to Hawk (30ft) must have been the difference.
What worked:
Carolina rig, 1 oz weight, 2 ft leader, 2 glow beads at the hook.
Having my woman with me (obviously)
What didn't work:
Fishing next to that bridge, I always get crapped on by the birds!
