It has been many years since I left a report here. A couple businesses and a couple kids later we are still fishing but not nearly as much. The closure of our favorite rivers due to the steelhead moratorium has us trying to remember other spots we have fished in the past at this time of the year. We stopped by Riffe lake last week on the way to a hike and saw that guys were doing pretty good. So we went there today to scratch that fishing itch. We fished bobber and shrimp about 4-5ft down. Action was consistent with a very wide range in the size of fish. And about a 50-50 split on landlocked coho and rainbow trout. We also fished a short leader with one small split shot and shrimp, like a free drifting set up. To feel the bites for fun and that was super productive as well. This is a great fishery for kids. Action is consistent to keep them excited and focused. The water is up high enough that you can use the rod holders on the walkway, though most of the time you were getting bit before you could put your rod in it.
