This report is for ice fishing Eloika lake. Started fishing at 9am with my gf. Caught 6 largemouth for the first two hours. Then the perch and pickerel moved in. I've mapped a few spots here that I like. One is a quarter of the way from shore at the big red barn on the south end. It puts you into 7 ft of water and at the very edge of the deep trench. We tried going further out into deeper water but it only produced a small perch. I've noticed the best spots tend to be where you still have weeds. You'll spend the first half hour pulling them up and then after that you've got a nice little hole that seems to pick up the bite. Ended the day with 10 largemouth, 4 perch and 3 pickerel.
What worked:
1/16th oz pink jig with white Mirabou body.
164th oz firetiger jig
Bass eyes
Complaining your bf caught 6 bass and you caught none. She brought in the next 2 bass and 2 perch soon after.
Pounding the bottom
What didn't work:
Plastic bodies. We tried a variety with no luck.
Idle lures. We couldn't get any bites when we got lazy!
