My dad and I hooked into about 30-35 small trout. Normally orange Triple-teasers w/ one-quarter oz. weight on the line works great, but not this time. Flies on floating lines are usually our #2 choice, but didn't work well. Got most all the fish fishing #10 Olive Woolley Buggers w/krystal flash in the tail, trolled medium-fast on 200 grain or 400 grain Orvis "depth charge" (extra fast sinking) lines to get the fast trolled lure deep...the fish were not shallow! Most people doing ok there, but not great. Planted 5/9/01 so they'd been in the lake a little while and the usual bright orange lures were not working well. Had to go deep (lake is not very deep anyway, however), and an electric trolling motor allows you to keep your lure deep much longer than casting and retrieving back to the surface, and covers way way more territory in a day than float-tube fishing or bank fishing, and it's CONSISTENT speed allows you to maintain roughly the SAME DEPTH (if you slow down and speed up like when paddling, your fly drops too often and gets caught in the prolific weeds). An electric motor and getting down and using #10 Olive Woolley Buggers are the key.
