Lake Samish is very close to turning on for Kokanee. Fish can be had right now, you just have to work a bit for them. Took the Hobie out Sunday morning, water flat, but fairly thick fog hanging over the lake. Fish were taken between 5 - 25ft down, with the majority taken around 7-10ft. Landed 2 cutts as well, released 1 just under the slot limit, landed 8 kokanee, and probably lost 4-5 on the way to the net.
Elgin Fishing God's Tooth Spoons in 50/50 blue and Fire Tiger patterns worked best for me with 12 inch leaders behind a dodger. Bonus is that the Samish kokanee seem to be running an inch or 2 larger than the previous 4 or so years, most coming in right now about 12 inches. Should make for some decent fish later in the summer.
Video from the morning is below.
