I took Mike out to the Arm. We launched just after sunrise and headed upriver. We fished an area above buoy 3 that was holding quite a few eyes. I spot locked my Tracker in a slower current area and we were casting our jigs upriver and letting the current pull them down river. A couple of tips if you are new to jig fishing. If you are working your jig with the current and it feels like your jig bounced off a rock and you didn't set the hook, you missed a fish. Your jig felt like it went across some gravel and you didn't set the hook, you missed a fish. You pick your jig up off the bottom and it feels like you have a pine needle on it and you didn't set the hook, you missed a fish. We hit several more areas that were productive as well. All told we caught 50 or so eyes and cleaned 23. We could have had a 32 fish limit by 0900 but we released anything under 16 inches and anything over 21 inches. Perch swimbaits and green with red flake grubs were the most productive. I finished the day with a nice 3+ lb smallie caught near buoy 1.
