I was happy to find the spot shrimp were still where I left them last year, me and my buddy limited in three drops. Dropped the first pot at 2 and were done by 3:30 throwing back all the small ones. Friskies ocean white fish with tuna and a few pellets did the trick.
Make sure you have enough line and weight in your pots, we saw one getting pulled under and several out in odd spots away from everyone (not sure if they were drifting or someone was trying for shrimp in the flats in 200' of water). 400' is about the minimum line (I have about 500 on two and 420 on the other) if you are dropping them to 300'. Seems to me that 280-300' is a great depth and I have found the best success near the edges of the drop-offs.
