Snuck away to fish today and thought being Friday the Park would be busy. Not at all and we were pleased to be the only vehicle at the launch ramp parking. 65 degree air, 65 degree water and mostly cloudy. Perfect weather. The catch and release body count was 45. Less than last week but bigger fish this time around.

We weren't on the water ten minutes when K got the first fish. Things were looking good! For the first couple of hours, K kept catching fish and was in the lead, when finally P and I took off. At one point the guys even had a double. It was funny as P. was net in hand to help K with his trout, then all of a sudden his pole took off and he quickly abandoned K. to his own means. "Some friend", K said. LOL.

We had at least 6 hits a piece that didn't hook up, and we all had several boat side that got away. And I had a real nice fish (bass I think) that swirled on the surface near shore and shook his head and was gone before I had a good luck. Maybe not as big as the huge bass P landed, but a contender. I also had a trout that got off as I was lifting it out of the water and the lure flew out and hit P. in the back and stuck in his shirt. K. was telling him to stop dancing around and he'd unhook him. Pretty funny.

We noticed an eagle kept watching us and would swoop over us when we had a fish at the boat. One trout didn't go down quick enough and became lunch for a swooping eagle. Quite the sight.

It was such fun to see P. play his 19" bass. With polaroid sunglasses I could clearly see the beautiful fish take his lure and dive deep to escape, but P. played it great and K. did an expert net job to land this beauty. We all gave it a kiss to see it go home and maybe catch another day.
That biggin wore us out so that we paused to go ashore "lunch rock" to have hot dogs and homemade Hoosier potato salad.

We decided to plug a while longer and had fun with both bass and trout. Then we decided to end with the trout troll which produced my big trout. What a pretty fish. The day ended with P. 22 fish (3 rainbow, 19 bass), me 12 fish (6 trout, 6 bass), and K. 11 fish (2 bass, 9 trout) and one hook bite that took off ta chunk of his thumb.
