This is the third and final report on my week of fishing at Riffe Lake. In my week camping there I caught fish every time I went out and they were good quality fish. If you are new to the lake a couple of tips. Look for the ledges and fish the edges of those. Just west of the ramp is an Island and the deep water off of that island butts up agains a flat. The fish can be found there. Most of my big fish were caught in 300 feet of water 30 feet on the rigger. I only used Shoepeg corn with NTO™ Scent Spinner in white trout sized with Seahawk colored beads pulled behind an Arrowflash dodger. I fish .8-1.2 mph. I see a lot of guys going faster, (and it depends on what you are using) but going slow produced some great fish. The wind is an ever constant companion if you are a kayaker or have a very small boat so plan accordingly.

If you have never been to this lake get out there. A lot of fun.

ps. I think because of the quality of all the sticks and floating logs in the lake ( as well as the wind) it does not appear to be really popular with the water maggots (aka Jet Skies) or ski boats. Only saw a couple my whole week out there. I may have gotten lucky on that front but heads up if you want a lake where you are not an obstacle for their slalom course.

I have a question about your lure you were using at Rife, but can't get any response back when I send a message to Northern Tribe Outdoors. I am wondering weather I should purchase a glo style one or a non glo style one for fishing mainly kokanee, landlocked cohos, or tripiloid trout at Rife or Merwin? Also what size I should use to catch steelhead from the beach on the Cowlitz in the spring time and if a glo or non glo would be best? Also where can I purchase them in an area near Longview, Wa. I hope you will give me some answers. Thank you. Denny. 360 703 8817

I have been trying to get ahold of you. I no longer have my old land line phone number, so I can't get on line with you. So please call me on my current phone number listed above. Thank you. Denny

Hi Denny,

Thanks for the response. I have been on vacation camping in Gifford Pinchot forest (two weeks of Overlanding and camping!) and completely disconnected and put the Amazon store on vacation! Amazon store is back but I will give you a call. Thanks for the interest and glad you are getting after the fish on Riffe!
