Headed out to Good ol' Potholes Resovoir to give it a try for some Rainbow Trout. We planned on camping for four days with some family that was visiting from Oregon who I grew up with back in our home island "SAIPAN". It was their first time being in Eastern Washington let alone camping there and so I kept busy showing them around and telling them stories of all my amazing past trips and adventures. And of course, we haven't hung out with each other in a while so we were all sitting down trying to catch up on things. DAY 1 - "SPLASH-SPLASH!" we all heard fish splashing/jumping, but with the abundance of Huge Carp around I automatically assumed it was a Carp Surfacing/breaching. My little brother watches the Rod and reel almost get pulled into the water, grabs the pole and tries setting the hook,(of course camera was not rolling at this moment)the line is snagged! I somehow managed to get it out of the snag and and reeled that baby in! In all the excitement and craziness, little did we know my boy had baited his own worm on a bobber set-up and re-casted out while we were trying to get ourselves together after all that adrenaline. BAM! the second rod gets SLAMMED and FISH ON! it went running...kept trying to go in the rocks since it was a nice drop-off/ledge we were fishing from but we eventually got the fish in, just in time for dinner. The grill was actually being prepped when the fish bit. With an already tasty Chamorro Secret Ingredient Marinated Ribs on the Grill, why not add some freshly caught trout on the Side. Great way to end the first day with a full stomach, in front of a nice cozy campfire, watching the stars at night, and with light pollution around, you can actually see the Milky Way and everything around so much better! MAGICAL... anyways we baked the Second trout on Day 2 with the good ol Mayo! Fought and lost a nice carp. DAY 3 we got skunked, and left early on Day 4 due to usual high winds, never fails. For being caught not too late in the year and with colder seasons that stuck around a little longer this year, the Triploid trouts tasted EXCELLENT IMO unlike those caught in warmer summer months that most people claim taste muddy and yuk.And with MANY MANY fishing REPORTS I've read and followed online,Sometimes you just have to go out and try it for yourself. Tight LINES! CHEERS!
