No deer spotted on our way to Dry Falls this time, so my friend Eldon was not sure if our flyfishing would be any good or not. Just for fun, we convinced ourselves that deer would bring us luck to our flyfishing. We started fishing around 9:40 AM. No ice on the surface, but really really cold. The water was calm all in the morning, but rain drops broke the surface in the afternoon. Eldon fished shallow water along the shore, 10 to 15 feet from the shore line, and I fished deep water. We fished for a little more than 4 hours, 9:40 AM to 2 PM. Eldon landed 8 good-size bows, but I landed only 4 large ones and 3 small ones. Our home-made olive woollybuggers and, of course, patience appeared working well.

This year's Dry Falls flyfishing has been just okay, but not as good as before. However, there are plenty of bows, browns and tigers in Dry Falls. The introduction of tigers in Dry Falls changed our fishing strategies because our reliable flies and techniques did not seem to work any longer. Eldon and I used to think that we had our own unique techniques, but fish seemed to strongly disagree lately. Now we simply try to please fish and feel that it is the only way to have productive fishing at Dry Falls.
