Good to be on the water after a year of no fishing. Fished 3 days, all day the 26th, afternoon of the 27th, and morning of the 28th. Weather and lake conditions were awesome on the 26th so we stayed on the water all day, put 5 in the cooler that morning and finished a limit that afternoon. Next day fished afternoon only, quite choppy conditions, and put 6 in the cooler in about 2hrs. Friday we fished morning only, and after a quick flurry of activity, the bite just quit with 4 in the cooler. All good, we had our legal 2 possession limits so all came home at once.

Technique and gear same as the majority of my reports, speed was 2.8 - 3.2mph, surface temps were 63° (too warm IMO), and weather ranged from clear, calm, sunny to overcast, windy, spitting rain. As always, Kekeda flies (orange/black worked best) tipped with half a crawler 150' out.

Good to hear from you, glad you got out. Like that thermometer.

It was downright nice inside and that was with the canvas "door" rolled up too!

H-fisher.. If I remember correctly you are fishing lead line and going fast. I fish lead line almost exclusively with home tied bucktail flys and go slow. Generally I'm fishing 5 or 6 colors (150-180') with a 30' leader at 1.7-8. I think I'm getting 25-30' deep.

May I ask how deep do you think you are fishing if you are fishing lead line?

I haven't been down lately but your success has perk my interest. :-)

Yes I am. Rarely ever drop below 2.5mph, as mentioned in my post, we trolled 2.8 - 3.2mph each day per my Luhr-Speed trolling indicator, firmly believe it is more accurate than GPS speed especially in current.

I use 50' fluorocarbon leaders tied to 18# leadcore and run them 150' out per line counters on my reels, at the speeds I'm running, my estimate is 12' - 15' deep.

This has been extremely effective for the better part of almost 14 years of catching RBT at Roosevelt. Hope that helps. ;-)

You made a believer out of me a few years ago. Still don't always do it but if the 1.7 isn't producing I kick it up about a mile an hour

Thanks for restating your method for me. I'll have to crank up the speed next time fish activity at my slow speed dies off. Fast for me in the past is still slower than your slow speed.

I see another advantage to your faster speed (besides catching the heck out of fish).. you can cover a lot more area in the same time I'm poking along wondering if I should run to my next favorite spot.

Thanks again.

Sounds like a good 3 days. Love those Rosey RBT. If I may ask, a general area where you were fishing would be greatly appreciated??

Reservation shoreline across from Lincoln all the way downstream of the 25mi marker where the rocky shoreline ends.

Another tip, if you're not finding success along the shoreline don't be bashful about moving out to deep water those rainbow will sometimes suspend over deep water and you'll never find them hugging the shoreline. :-)

Thanks…did you ever go slower (like 2.0) with dodgers?
