Had some time to kill before I checked in at Seabrook, so I took a long detour from Port Orchard on 101 all the way to Rialto Beach. I have heard that it was one of the best surfperch beaches in Washington, so I figured why not. Got there around 9am, and caught a big fish on the 3rd cast but it was spotty after that. Lots of bites from small ones but only 2 more. As I walked down the beach, I noticed that there was a rock sticking out of the water near the parking lot, and I quickly discovered that anywhere to the right of this rock is snag city! Anything I threw to the right of it got snagged. My bait was horse clams that I dug up in the sound, and this is now my favorite surfperch bait. It stays on the hook extremely well, is a lot cheaper than the Gulp, and does not take away from your razor clam limit! If you're going out surf fishing, dig up a few if you get the chance. I went to Roosevelt Beach this morning and got 5 more fish but got too cold quickly. I'll be hitting Kalaloch tomorrow morning on my way out
