I was planning on going salmon fishing on Sunday the 16th but as in the last 2 years when I plan to go salmon fishing, WDFW closes it. This year, I was retired, so I was able to go crabbing and my son and I did, on the 17th. I was lucky they didn’t close the crabbing.
We started about 10am. At first, I went over by Point Ruston but the current and wind were too strong for the anchors. I thought Owens Beach might be better with the slack tide. I also used my bow mount electric as the anchor. We were there from about 11am to noon. Using one ring and bottom fishing while waiting the 10 or so minutes before pulling it up. We bottom fished while waiting. My son caught 2 flat fish (I don’t know if it was flounder or sole.) We ended with 4 keeper Reds. No Dungeness seen. I prefer red rock so that was good.
My crabbing set up is the same as for a dock. We have to tie it off to the boat.
The tide was high at 4:20 AM 10.2 foot low at 11:28 AM -1.8 foot.
