My report is a bit late....Fished area 9( Oak Bay,cut off line between Olele Pt and Foul Weather Bluff). Made a mad dash to get a last evening troll before it closed for Chinook. Launched and started trolling around 6:30pm. Using a Gibbs herring aide skinny G with 50 inch leader. Had a small window of opportunity with the tide and hooked a nice 12-13lb buck. This was a strong fish! Took about 10 good runs as I repeatedly circled so that the hook wouldn't get thrown. Had the fish to the net (keeping motor in gear) and that darn fish jumped 2-3 feet in the air out of the net. Big problem I had was the rubber coated nylon net. That thing is like dragging a wet mop in the water and scoop a fish. He took a couple more runs and I finally netted the fish. Had set my crab pots and got five good sized rock crab( big rock crab was from earlier in the season picture). Usually get 2-3 rock crab 6-7 inches in a few hours with 2 pots( not many Dungey in the area). Was out during the sturgeon moon phase and it looked like the sun rising at night. Good Luck! Open Area 11 To Boats WDFW!!!
