So,I was talking to a friend about fishing... My buddy that I fished with last week called at the same time. He wanted to go try Redondo again. Weather looked good at the moment (he drove by Redondo coming from work). Pressure drop in the weather, but flat calm as he drove Redondo. We met at Redondo launch around 3pm. No one was out fishing( no trailer/trucks in the lot). Weather was good with sun and clouds. Trolling a Ace High green glow/herring bait strip.And Whole herring/ head holder(think it's a anchovy head holder/blue dark scale). We launched and weather was blue sky/clouds little wind and no waves/current. We made a couple trolls Between Redondo and Dumas bay and found good bait schools and a lot of good fish marks on the fish finder. Was looking good for the moment.... Things can change in a hurry out on the water. In about 30/40 minutes went from clouds and gray to a major downpour for a good 45 minutes. Wasn't much wind or current(high tide didn't move much at all). Somehow we were between the sunny spots South and North. The rain clouds just sat where we were trolling. Thought we might have a good opportunity today,but low pressure and a lot of rain shut us down. There were twice as many marks for nice size fish compared to last week when whe got a couple coho. There were fish,not biting our gear. Trolled through 20 marks at around 50ft( not even a shaker). We caught 1 shaker on the whole herring(trolling 3-4hours). Shakers weren't even biting.Not that we want to catch juvenile Chinook salmon. We will try when it's tough fishing conditions,but this is the season the state gives us for opportunities to catch salmon.These next couple days may be a good opportunity. Fish are out there.... Need to get them to bite..Good Luck! Oh forgot to say that the Dock is out for the rest of the year(still cost the same to launch). Thanks Des Moines. Maybe fix the pier too!!.....(Redondo that is)!
