Got a late start- didn't get on the water until 7:30 pm. Received notice from editor that Rattlesnake was finally stocked and had to witness first hand. Launched my tube just west of the boat ramp and had my first hit about 5 minutes later. They were sure hitting soft with no apparent big fish or aggressive little fish. Fished mostly green wooly buggers until just prior to sundown when I switched to elk hair caddis. Caught 3 more on dry flies and had one break off my fly- couldn't tell if perhaps a planted triploid or a faulty knot on my part. Total caught for the night was 6. Finally pulled out at 10:20 and hiked out as the gate was locked at this time. Worked out well with parking in the overflow lot on the outside of the entrance gate. Not bad for the first outing at Rattlesnake. Stocked planters need to grow up a bit more. Will most likely be out again tonight to try my luck. The big ones are there somewhere.
