Just returned from Curlew, got there the day after the big storm (May
26). We pulled in on Wednesay night (delayed because of road closures
and wash-outs), started fishing day-break on Thursday (28th). Barely
got my line in the water and hooked a nice 2 pounder. (Worms and a
marshmellow). There were five of us fishing, some from the docks at
Tifany's and some from the boat, all over the lake. Weather has been
better, we had sun, thunderstorms, rain, wind and just about everything
else Mother Nature could think up.

The lake was extremely high, and the fishing was not very good. I
suspect an over abundance of food in the lake and the high water level
attributed the poor fishing. If you wanted to catch fish on a
consistent basis, the outlet end was relatively good. No size, but easy
to catch.

In summary, five guys fished hard and heavy all over the lake for 3 days
and brought home 20 small (8-10" plants) and 1, 2 pounder, most
everything was caught on worms and marshmellow, though the small fish
didn't seem to care. Eggs did work. A report of a near 4 pounder was
caught at the Pine Point Resort on a single red Pautski's egg. Trollers
were picking up the plants pretty regularly. It just couldn't get much
worse. Am planning on a return in the Fall.

Good Luck,
