After reading some reports on green lake from this website I decided to give the small green lake a shot this last sunday. I live about two min. away so it was a quick trip in the morning after I dropped my girl off at work. I got there about 9:30 in the morning and fished (fly fished) for about an hour. It was really cold out that morning and I almost packed it up and went home. Right as I was about to leave an elderly gentleman showed up and began fly fishing. I figured if he could put up with the cold so could I. 20 min. later I caught the largest rainbow I've ever landed on my fly rod. 18 inches. After not catching diddly all winter I was beyond excited when I saw that monster jump out of the water he put up a grand fight and he almost won. I was fishing off of the T dock and this fish was so heavy that I could pull him out of the water with my right arm, so I brought him in as close to the dock as I could and grabbed the line with my left hand. Just as I got him over the dock SNAP the line broke, but he fell safely to the dock. I was using a small brown bugger with a 5x leader 4 lbs. test. I live very close to green lake and I had no idea there where these monstrous fish in there. I know it is kind of funny fishing in the middle of Seattle but if you like catching fish I suggest giving it a shot.
