The weather was hot 85 with not a breath of wind. My brother Mike and I decided the evening would be a more comfortable time to fish. We started about 5pm and fished until dark. The fishing was as hot as the weather.
We both were using dark damsels and fishing deep and slow. It must be something about damsel nymphs – the trout would just attack them – nearly ripping the rod out of my hand on several occasions. We were fishing sinking lines - type 5 or 6 with a 3 1/2 foot level leader of 4x.. The fish were in the weeds, on the bottom - depth varied between 10 and 20 feet. If you could not feel the weeds, you were not catching fish. There were a few chironomid fishermen catching the occasional fish, but we were catching 10 to their 1. We lost count after a while.
We fished along the walls (to the left and right) just a few hundred feet from the far southeastern launch. The area was producing so well, we never made it to our other favorite holes. Maybe tomorrow…

I was surprised at the number of fishermen during midweek. It used to be you could have the lake mostly to yourself (except on the busy weekends). I was very pleased to see no one keeping their 1 fish limit. With everyone releasing all their fish, this lake should continue to be good.
