The smallmouth fishing is hot on Moses Lake. The poor walleye
fishing has left the lake with very little pressure. I fished all day (on a Thursday) and did not see another fishing boat!

If fast action and quantity is what you want, then fish the shore lines in 4-8 feet of water with a slip bobber and worms. This yields non-stop action on 6-12 inch smallmouths. The worm needs to be close to the bottom and weeds. If bigger smallies is what you are after then you need to change tactics. Change to a small crankbait, 4 inch grub, or plastic worm. Work points, rocks, or ledges in 8-12 feet of water. The bonus here is that you
can also score on a big walleye or largemouth bass! The fish move a lot and so must you. A fish finder is invaluable here to see if yesterdays hot spot is a barren wasteland today. I keep one rod rigged with a crankbait and one with a grub or worm. When I arrive at a spot I work the crankbait first and then the plastic more thoroughly. If no fish bite in 10 minutes, then I move on. Come try it; it's a blast!
