I fished Angle Lake for the first time last Friday morning.

Started at 8:30 trolling rooster tails, hotshots, spoons, etc. and nothing worked. I got to the quiet N.E. end of the lake and spotted a fisherman catching one. I promplty asked him what his secret was. A wedding ring with Power Bait. In to my tackle box I went and within 5 minutes I had a strike. I found the fish hard to be careful biters and a sharp hook is extremely important. I had to re-tie my wedding ring- getting rid of that big line that
comes with it and tying on a size 8 hook with 4 pound Magnathin line. I used a 1/8 oz slip type bass bullet sinker above a barrel swivel. My leader was 36".
The bite was on at 10:00. It could have been on all morning but by 10:00 I finally had my gear fine tuned. I had a great time bringing 10 fish to my boat before I left at 12:30. I had numerous more bites and great action. The fish ranged from skinny 9" to a fat 12' I only caught 2 of the 12" variety. I catch and release all my fish and make sure I use barbless hooks at all times.
Usually releasing fish when fishing with bait is not recommended. Trolling the bait enables you to release the fish, however and still enjoy the hot action that bait can provide. All of my hook ups were in the edges of the lips and made excellent, clean release fish. It is such a great feeling to see the fish swim away unharmed!!!

I will definitely be back to this lake. Be prepared for a parking mess. There is a lot of construction going on. I was there on a Friday and it was busy. I am not even going to attempt it on the weekend.
