We made our annual trip to Burke lake for the early opener. The fishing at Burke was the worse it has been since the time I went and found out (after fishing for 4 hrs) that they had killed off the lake the week before. Out of 10 guys there were maybe 10 fish caught between Wed and Sat. They went to Martha and said it was even worse. I hiked into all of the small lakes down below Evergreen and didn't have any luck until I got to Spring lake Fri afternoon. Caught my limit in 3 hrs, but I was the only one fishing at that lake to do so. There was a story going around that someone pulled out a 10+ pounder on Thur. Went back Sat morning and limited out in an hour and got to enjoy 2 beavers swimming around the whole time. Again there were probably 10 other people fishing and I only saw 3 others caught while I was there. I was just the lucky one that day. All in all a dissapointing weekend, fishing wise, but it still beat the heck out of staying home.
