Spent a glorious week at Wapato Point as usual! The temperatures weren't as scorching as in past years so I enjoyed it more. I ran into Anton Jones on the dock the first day and he gave me a lot of info on where he was fishing and how things were going. I trolled next to him one morning and he out fished me 3-0, so if you want to learn Chelan, I'd go with him!

Kokanee - only caught a couple in the limited time I spent going after them. Talked to another angler with an Arima like mine and they were catching them above the State Park, 50 feet down in 180 feet of water.

Dock Trout - The girls hit a double in the first five minutes, the first night we were there. It was the only trout we got off the dock for the week, and by Tuesday or so, most folks had given up.

Lakers - After trying my hand at trolling next to the expert with no luck, I switched back to jigs down by the Mill Bay boat ramp. I got two in the 10-12 pound range. The one I kept had a chinook, a rainbow and a fresh kokanee in its stomach. The koke was so fresh I almost wanted to keep it (grin). Took oldest daughter Michelle out on Tuesday for some one-one time and she caught a 15 pounder, upping the family record for Chelan and getting oohs and aahs at the dock. I had to put the fighting belt on her to help her get it in. About half way up it ran all the way to the bottom and Michelle said, "Dad!". I told her to do it again with a big grin. After that Megan wanted desperately to catch a bigger one than her sister. We hit Slide Waters on Wednesday but on Thursday we got out and Megan managed to get a 13 pounder. I believe the recent derby has had an impact on the laker population in the lower lake. I marked a lot less fish this year than I did last year.
