First time out on this lake so we had no idea of how to fish it. Of course everyone has been there and everyone has caught exactly what they've gone after using their own 'secret' technique. We headed out from the resort in a rented boat with an electric trolling motor pushing us along. We weren't even 100 feet away from where we launched when I got a 12 inch rainbow on a perch rapala. After that we only got kokanee, which is fine. I did learn though that kokanee are a bit picky. when we were going that secret speed, with the secret lure at the secret depth they would hit like mad. The secret? My Uncle's amazing ability to never troll a pattern, use varying speeds becuase every time he turns this way or that way his belly changes the speed control on the motor without him knowing. But it's all good. And the lure, well, rapala, wedding rings, cow bells, and my sons favorite; Plankton. No, not the real stuff the practice lure with no hooks that comes with his Sponge Bob pole. The messed up part, I think he actually got a couple hits on the stupid thing. Anyway, Chapman was a great lake and I will be back again and again and... well, you get the idea.
