Isn't it amazing what a week of pounding heat will make. I fished this lake also on 5-13-06 and all we could catch were trout, dont get me wrong we caught some nice triploids but we wanted spinyrays. Oh well as long as we are fishing its always a good time. Of course catching makes all the diffrence, anyways like i said what a diffrence the water was about ten degrees warmer and boy were there some active fish out that day. My partner and I boated at least 30 fish together both large mouth and smallies. We caught mostly smallies but a couple large mouths. Like most days my partner was out fishing me, he had already boated probly four fish and I couldnt get a bite for nothing. Then it happened I hooked what I thought was a monster he didnt notice untill he saw a submarine under the boat as I was yell my favorite line "get the net". We managed to boat her after a nice fight this smallie weighted in at around 4 lbs and close to nineteen inches. So after all that my buddy decided to tie a new lure on do ya think he switched to what I was fishin with? Of course but not soon enough becase on that next cast I hooked the bottom of the lake and pulled out a five pound smallie at nineteen and a half inches, so i had just gone from my heart pounding catching the largest smallie of my life to catching an even bigger fish on the next cast. Can you now imagine the emotion I was going through I probly could of jump started the the truck with all that energy. Well it made for a great pic which will be posted at a later date and admired for years to come in my photo book. The funny thing about the story is right before I caught the first smallie I told my partner I would let him catch more fish as long as he lets me catch the big one. Hes such a great guy he let me catch 2. P.S. never been so wet in my life the rain never stopped but the harder it came down the better the fishing was.
