I'd like to know where you got the info that tiger muskies are sterile. I've seen the in most of the northern states and canada.

Was this misplaced by chance? Tiger Musky is a sterile hybrid between a musky and northern pike, you see them in a lot of places much like you see the mule counterpart to horses. I read a study saying that a very scant number of female tiger muskies may be fertile, all tiger musky males are sterile, and thus since they are more or less a "mutt" in the fish world, their chances of reproducing another tiger musky is slim to none. Most all are bread a female musky egg to a male northern pike sperm and in controlled hatchery conditions. Like mules they are produced for a reason, which is usually to control invasive species and to provide a good sport fishery since they are voracious eaters and grow in size quickly. To even be able to genetically engineer a pure viable strain you would need to have both sexes able to fertilize so the chances of a pure viable strain (like golden retrievers parents producing golden retrievers offspring) is in my oppinion is nil.
