My wife and I fished Cranberry Lake at Deception Pass State Park. We have been limiting there every weekend we have gone, since the second week of April. Limits have been coming in about an hour and fishing has been absolutely fantastic. On this mornings trip we launched at 9:20 am and were trolling the same spot using the same lure I have mentioned several times in reports for this lake in 2006. Right off the bat my wife had a fish boated followed by me missing three straight strikes. In two and a half hours we took 7 RB all about 12 inches. Fishing was much slower this time out and the water temp was 65.8 degrees Fahrenheit. The fish were still on the finder but are mostly on the bottom which makes sense as the water is warming up. All in all a good trip but we had to work for the 7 we left with. I have smoked all but a handful of the fish we have harvested this year from this lake. They have been excellent eating and co-workers have enjoyed the treat as well. The fish from this lake that I have baked up, were also great. No muddy flavor at all and pink meat. Great lake, great season. On a separate note, there were 6 or 8 kayakers on the lake following too closely and cutting in front of us and several other fishing boats. Their lack of courtesy was not appreciated. Good fishin.
