I went with a friend who was taking his grandkids fishing; we went to Williams Lake and fished from the dock. I think God smiles on those who take kids fishing---I was a spectator-fisherman, helping the kids with their tackle and basically helping them enjoy fishing, as well as letting granddad get some fishing time, too. I started by letting them fish the way they wanted to, UNTIL I hooked a trout. Then, the kids became very attentive to the way it was done and soon caught their own fish! Granddad was the main-man for baiting their hooks and getting them to mind their lines, and used worms and powerbait. He had bought some garlic marshmallows (which made for fun conversation---" Imagine the s'mores you could make with THOSE!") I didn't limit out, but I still had a grand time. The granddaughter caught a large fish and nearly had it hauled to the dock, but the hook broke and that fish got away... Sympathy for her (I have had that happen to me too many times to count). Secret of the dock fishing: I ain't telling. At the end of the fishing experience, one of the grandkids knew he had caught a Rainbow Trout, but when I called it a "whopper", he thought that was a kind of fish, too (the question "How come my trout can be a whopper?" was asked and answered--- "The fish is over 12 inches long, and you caught it is why it is a whopper!") I had a blast fishing today--- I recommend an occasional fishing trip with little fisherpeople... It is worth it!
