just a few tips for all those wanting to fish lewis lake. the best time to fish this lake is may to june, after that the weeds are just to thick.fishing from the bank is a waste of time you need some type of boat/float tube.the best lures to use are a black and silver rapala cast to the bank and twitched back to the boat and a pumpkin and chartruese lizard rigged weedless with no weight. cast to bank and retrieve just fast enuogh to keep the tail and legs fluttering.most of the bass are in the 1-2lb range but I have caught numerous bass in the 3-6lb range including 2 monsters that snapped my 10lb line. best locations on the lake are the west side and the southeast corner by the beaver huts. for crappie use a white or yellow beetle spin straight out from the boat launch. this is the only place on the lake i have caught them.and for Barry here are the directions for fiander. they are by memory as I did not bring my ft lewis map to iraq. I-5 south to the ft lewis golf course exit.take left at off ramp.drive until you get to stop sign, I believe it is highway 501 or 507 something like that.take a left. drive through the indian reservation until you see a tank crossing sign.take a right and then an immeadiate left it should be a blacktop road.drive several miles. you will eventually go uphill where the road will Y with a gravel road. take that right go down that road maybe a mile. there will be a clear cut witht a large stand of pine trees off to your left. fiander lake is located inside that stand of pines. good luck. let me know how you do.
