Joined the hordes on opening day to try a local lowland lake. I actually started to go to McMurry, but couldn't find a parking spot @ 5:30 AM, so I moved on down to Lake Sixteen. The weather was great, with an early overcast and mild temperatures. Put my float-tube in about 6:00 and headed out on a slow troll with a small egg-sucking leach. Found the fish about 6:30, and had essentially non-stop action until 8:00 when I needed to paddle out for a sani-can break. Took about 12 planters from 8-11", released everything I caught. Everyone seemed to be doing well, but it was getting too crowded and I decided to call it a day instead of going back out. Used a slow sink-tip line, but the fish all seemed to be close to the surface. Also used a pheasant tail nymph on a dropper, but never caught a fish on it. This is a great little lake, and produces well into the early summer. Plus it's a great workout for us middle aged float-tubers, since the best fishing always seems to be at the opposite end of whatever lake we select!
