Re: Pike advice for a total newb?

You can't fail with a spoon or a spinnerbait. Toss along weed edges, over the tops of weeds, through gaps in weeds, downed trees, etc. There are plenty of places to fish from shore. Cougar Bay, Wolf Lodge Bay, and other areas of the main lake and chain lakes have access from the road. A boat would o...

Re: Article Pike in Lake Roosevelt

Good point on CDA. Salmon seem to be doing very well there. And its all about control. They have designated warm water lakes, and with sterile Muskies, they control how many there are. If they were to not want them around anymore they could just quit stocking. Also, if a bucket bio were to move some...

Re: Article Pike in Lake Roosevelt

Doesn't change the fact that they are here to stay, Bill. Or that there are people who enjoy fishing for them. And remember, times change. Habitats are not the same as they once were. Water temps are increasing. Dams have been built. The environment has changed, and with that, different fish species...

Re: Article Pike in Lake Roosevelt

It's a very expensive, losing battle. They will NEVER get every fish. If they EVER let up on the netting, even for a year, they will lose so much ground. This is something that will need funding, and boots on the ground for eternity. It really is just a matter of time. Pike are here to stay, and all...

Re: IFPAG Meeting, Aug. 1, 2015

I haven't spent a dollar in Pend Oreille County since the netting started. I used to be there fishing, buying food, gas, gear etc. dang near every weekend from March-October. Sure, this doesnt really effect the State, or Kalispels, but it does get noticed by the business owner up to the county level...

Re: Cd'a Pike

Its like were back in the 70s or 80s. In Vilas County, Northern Wisconson there used to be a "fish contest" for Muskies. All the Tackle shops would have freezers out front, and they would display the biggest Muskies caught that week. Everyone would come down to the shop, check out the dead fish, and...

Re: Cd'a Pike

I agree with you for the most part, but when laws are determined by putting money in the State/Tribes pocket, it is up to us to make sure the fish we enjoy catching is still around to catch.

Muskie spearing is an epidemic in Michigan and Northern Wisconsin. Unfortunate. Their outdated treatys allow it.

Re: Pike at Kettle

They will have a harder time reproducing in the Columbia because the fluctuations in water will kill some spawns, and some fish. But if a few fish have a good spawn every year, or more fish have a successful spawn every 3rd or 4th year it would keep the population lower so we dont have the overcrow...

Re: Biggest Pike of 2014

Most CPR just like the Muskie. Some times people keep a few small ones for the table, but I would guess 99% of the die hards toss em back every time. I only keep them if I think it wont survive after release.

Re: Biggest Pike of 2014

Shoot! Sorry guys! Been a while since I've been on! I will see what I can do about pictures soon but I hit multiple personal bests this year! I got a 43" true Muskie, quickly followed by a 46". I got a 43.5" tiger. And then FINALLY beat the PB Pike! Back in 09 I got a 35" on the POR. It took 5 years...
