RE:Offut Lake Resort Winter Special!!!
There is great fishing to be had at Offut Lake! We've fished there several times, catching a bunch of trout and one little largemouth bass. One trout was a real big fellow and he broke my little girl's fishing pole! Our best fishing there was when we were trolling a half worm with a 3' - 4' leader. ...

The only strike I ever got after days and days of steelhead fishing was at Blue Creek over on the Cowlitz, so I definitely recommend fishing that area! LOL!

RE:2011 Puyallup Sportsman's Show Giant Contest! Over $500 in Prizes!
http://columbiariverarchery.com/image/apache_plain.png Mike was kind enough to provide a picture of the Apache bow we at Columbia River Archery are giving away. It is pictured above. It is set at 50-55 pounds at a draw length of 25". This is a shortbow, so the draw length is less than the standard ...

This is a great tip, too. I've seen them skim just over the top of sagebrush before landing well out of range.YellowBear wrote: They will come up to the top of the cover and then head out.

RE:Quail And Dove!!!
Quail are one of the best tasting game birds in my opinion. Some like to just breast them out, but they are so easy to clean and I keep the whole bird. They are delish! We keep the whole bird, too. And, as crappiemaster said, they are easy to clean. If you are fortunate to get some quail, here's on...

I'm not too experienced, but I do know it helps to be able to hit your target (as a multitude of still-living quail can attest to). Try to get some shootin' in before you go. For something to shoot at, our family has used thrown worm-infested apples when we didn't have clay targets.

I definitely need to work on that. I could hit a cheerio at 30 yards with my good ol' .22, but as a newby shotgunner, I have launched a ton of steel into the air with only one quail to show for it.Lead the bird. Shoot where they WILL BE, not where they ARE.

How about whitefish?
Okay, maybe I'm becoming a junk fish junkie. I know that my first memories fishing were for sucker fish in the South Umpqua river in SW Oregon. I don't remember how they tasted, but I do remember catching them with my dad and one of his friends. Anyway, has anyone recently catch some whitefish in th...

Quail hunting tips
One of our fellow members of Washington Lakes sent me a note asking about quail hunting. I offered some tips, and I wanted to share them with everyone else, and maybe some of you have some tips, too? (Likely, they'll be better than mine) 1) It seems from around 10 AM - 2 PM, quail like to hang out n...

RE:Waterfowl
yes it can be done!....it limits where you can go sometimes....it means you will either have to hunt where you can wade out and pick up your birds yourself , use a boat to go and get them or stick to hunting fields and hope you don't wound any birds and have to chase them for 1/2 a mile...but yeah ...
