Re: Pend Oreille River / Coeurdalene Lake
AJs Dad....you're exactly right about the cutthroat and bull trout recovery program being irrelevant to this issue. But, if they keep coming up with excuses (i.e. northern pike predation) the money keeps coming in. The real threat to those species are the dams. Now, with the recent FERC relicensing ...

Re: Pend Oreille River / Coeurdalene Lake
That's a good point...how many other fish are being killed as a result of their pike eradication efforts? According to Jason Conner, the Kalispel Tribe's pike program manager, 18 other fish species were discovered in the nets. Of the fish netted 75% were pike and the other 25% were a mixed bag (The ...

Re: Pend Oreille River / Coeurdalene Lake
I've been following your comments and wondering about your success during the recent Pend Oreille River Pike Tournament considering the ongoing gill net pike eradication program. It sounds like you encountered the effects of pike gill nets along the way. The Tribe is targeting the mouths of sloughs ...

Re: NOTICE to all Pike Fishermen
I've noticed a lot of discussion over the source of funding for the various gill net/shocking surveys conducted on the Box Canyon Reservoir. During the public meeting I couldn't help but notice the BPA (Bonneville Power Administration) logo on the bottom of one of the charts that the Kalispel Tribe ...

Re: The Dog and Pony show
First, I want to say that I appreciate what the "Pikey, Pikey" forum members and the Musky Club have done to bring attention to this issue. Keep it up! I attended the Usk meeting on Thursday night with a friend and it was formatted much the same way as the Spokane meeting (no open question and answe...

RE:WDFW & Kalispel Tribe Meetings on Northern Pike
I attended the meeting in Newport and appreciate the WDFW & Kalispel Tribe's efforts to explain the intent of their upcoming surveys. Noxon Reservoir (located upstream on the Clark Fork in Montana) was brought up and I'd like to again address the similarities between Noxon and Box Canyon reservoirs....

RE:Pike club in Washington State?
If they're going to list the pike as an invasive species then they'll have to list the largemouth and smallmouth, the walleye, brown trout, rainbow trout (except for the redband) and many other fish species. They are listed in their website under "Invasive" species as "prohibited". I don't know what...

RE:Pend Oreille River Gill netting and article from the Newport Miner please read
To All, I just found this Forum on the internet this afternoon and am new at this so bear with me. I'm a retiree living at "Ground Zero" on the shores of the beautiful Pend Oreille River near Pioneer Park and consider myself an avid fisherman. When I saw the article in The Miner last week I was tota...
