Hello,
Questions for you folks that use the Lake Samm boat launch....
If I use the launch (access area) to launch my float tube or small pontoon boat (hand carry manual floating devices), do I need to pay (a) a launch fee, and (b) a parking fee in addition to the launch fee?
thanks

Re: Pile Perch Fishing. My Simple Trick
I've not done this for years, but have caught some hefty pile perch in the past. I'll make this short and sweet, and give you an easy technique on how to entice these tasty fish into biting. Forget the pile worms or sand worms. Gather small crabs under rocks on the shoreline, using none any larger ...

I've seen plenty of big wiggling tapeworms in the stomach of yellow perch out of lake WA. Looks like yellow fettuccine noodles and creepy wiggly

Re: Boatless Salmon fishing, Sunday 9/20 (Seattle)
Whidbey has been pretty slow this summer. My friend went further north to Fort Casey this weekend and a few were caught. Mostly wild fish though, which need to be released in that Marine Area. Head for the rivers or stick around and keep waiting for the ocean fish at the beaches? I would probably hi...

Re: Those castable crab snares....
Here's my tips for using those crab snares (rubix cube things) with the plastic snares: The plastic snares are too few and too stiff to effectively snare crab legs. They seem to be basically weed eater line. I found the trap will be much more effective if I tie on another 10-15 loops/snares. I used ...

Re: Questions about catching baitfish in Puget Sound
Yes, the Gamakatsu sabiki rigs are the best I've used. The cheap gaudy Walmart ones don't do too well. I think the feathers and their beads are too big.

Re: Questions about catching baitfish in Puget Sound
Use sabiki rigs to target the herring. If you fish near docks, you may also catch surf smelt. Shiner perch will also bite on the sabikis. The best sabiki rigs are the ones with the small hooks and feathers. Avoid the cheap ones that come with beads. The Gamakatsu brand of sabiki rigs is what I use (...

Re: What to do ... with Chum Salmon
please also make sure that your chum is cooked to an adequate heat temperature, if you plan on feeding it to your dog. See the literature on the internet about salmon poisoning for dogs and the dangers of feeding raw salmon to your dog. Whether or not smoking is sufficient to avoid salmon poisoning,...

lots of them on eBay from Asia-based sellers. I have hundreds that I got from a garage sale years ago. Still working through my supply. I use them just like I would any other hook, for trout, bottomfish, salmon, steelhead, freshwater fish, etc.

Re: Regulation clarification
Wild coho are legal for retention in both the Green and Puy. If the regs don't say anything about releasing wild coho in a specific body of water, then they are legal to retain (assuming that you meet other requirements, like minimum size limit, possession/daily limits and that the body of water is ...

Re: Surf Fishing Washington Shoreline
let me throw in a few tips: For a container to hold fish and gear/bait: I use an old duffle bag with a shoulder strap. If i use a clam net, I find that the fish get banged around by the waves and also brush up against my waders with their sharp fins (could poke a hole in the waders), and so I stoppe...

Looking for float tube fins
Anyone out there have a set (single fin, or both fins) that you want to get rid off?
Doesn't need to be in great condition. Just need to find something preferably low priced...

Re: rules proposal: no limit on pan fish
Used to be there was no limit on spiny rays. I cannot think of one instance where any particular species of panfish was fished out - of any particular body of water. It is unlikely that there is enough pressure anywhere to decimate these resilient fish. I'm with the no limit group. onmygame For yea...

Re: Unweighted spoons
Many years ago, I tried casting an unweighted spoon off a pier. Didn't get any salmon, but couldn't keep the bullheads (staghorn sculpin) off. Must have caught dozens that day (all released).
