I have been out of town working and was thinking of hitting up silver this weekend. Howmuch ice is there out from the public launch? From what I heard you need to be in ~ 30 feet of water. How far out from the launch should I go?

Went out yesterday and I learned the hard way my ice auger needs sharpening. Just wondering what the proper way to sharpen it is?

I was at Elokia yesterday. 5 inches of ice 30 to 40 fish, missed another 20 bites, not bad for a rookie. Does anyone know how to properly sharpen an ice auger?

I was on silver Thursday. I caught fish all day long. I kept 1 perch for every 4 I caught. They were all small but it's still fun when you get a bite every 30 seconds or less.

Has anyone done any ice fishing? How thick is the ice? I am interested specifically in Elokia lake but any ice report will due.
