Hi everyone!
Just checking in after limited fishing from April to present. I did catch my first pink on my 6wt and the catch was actually uneventful. I expected more of a fight. Anyway, I'm off to the Sky tomorrow with my 6wt and 8wt for some Coho!

Fly Fishing for Pinks
This would be my first year FFing for Pinks and, from my understanding, pink flies are the ticket. I wanted to see if the group had any recommendations in terms of using a 6wt for Pinks? Too light? Too heavy?
also, what specific pink flies or other flies would you recommend?
thanks,
John

Re: trolling for bass with a fly
it is possible. don't let anyone say it's not. fish will take what they are enticed to take. or, in my case, two weeks ago, give me the middle finger.

Re: Fly Fishing the Salt - Searun Cutts
Great, thanks for the info. Is there any particular time of year that you find to be the best? From my understanding, any time of the year. I haven't been fishing for SRC for more than 4 months so can't tell you from experience. here are some great reads that help me... http://www.washingtonflyfish...

Any Epic Fly Fishing trips in 2015?
I don't have anything dynamic Trips planned this year. Mostly local and possibly Idaho. Enjoying SRC locally and look forward to exploring more SRC spots as the year rolls on.

Re: Fly Fishing the Salt - Searun Cutts
Sculpin imitations like muddler minnows are a staple, especially if you are fishing before the smolts have hit the salt. Early morning incoming tide is by far the best time to fish for them. Points are always good but not necessary. Don't feel you have to fish deep water, these guys are cruising th...

Re: Fly Fishing Only - 2 Flies
the dry dropper works for me versus just one dry or one nymph. Also, always be ready to switch flies outto "Match the Hatch". I've been fly fishing for about two years and really enjoy my time on the water.

Re: tokul creek
work the banks and move around often. I'm finding a new spot all the time. I hate standing in on place too long and like to venture around.

Re: Snoqualmie still blown?
I was there yesterday( Sunday) and worked the banks from Plum launch to the creek. switched flies every 30 minutes and worked every pool, rock and obstacles without luck but it was a really nice day out and i'm fine with that.

Re: Fly Fishing for Steelhead
Sage advice. I don't like crowds and the value of standing next to 12 anglers is almost zero for me. I fish for a peace of mind and finding a nice quiet place or two is priceless. you can IM me where you are at and I might be able to pick up whatever flies you are willing to part with!

Re: Fly Fishing for Steelhead
thanks for the feedback skagit. I just starting using my Rio veritip 2(Type 6 sink (6 - 7ips) on an echo solo rod and Lamson Guru 3.5 Reel. I brought the only two flies( pink/white and purple/black)on my first trip to the Snolqualmie this past weekend. no bites, but good practice. I will probably fi...

Fly Fishing for Steelhead
First, I hope you all are having a great Christmas season( and be safe out there). I noticed this fly fishing board isn't very active and wanted to get things started by asking who is fly fishing for Steelhead this winter? No need to tell me where you fish.. I just started to FF for steelhead( no lu...

Re: Allen and Echo 8wt
Thanks Quad and Nate for the feedback. I tend to evaluate any future product I might purchase to the extreme. I stopped by Creekside Angling in Issaquah to look around and do some Intel. Great guys that I could have chatted with all day but they have a business to run and I have Christmas light to h...

Allen and Echo 8wt
Hey, I'm looking into a an 8wt rod a reel with a budget( less than 300 for rod and reel) in mind. I current have a 6wt and it works well for trout. Now, I want to get into the salmon/steelhead fly fishing. I'm just looking for some feedback on experiences with either the Echo brand or Allen brand. T...

Re: Need a location to salmon fish from bank
Welcome! I've been on board here for 2 years. Great place to learn and network. As far the location, your best bet is to start locally and branch out from there. There are many(many) options for bank fishing. I live in Bellevue and try to work certain spots like the snohomish river, skykomish river ...
