Re: Lake Cavanaugh Fishing opportunities
Does anyone know what the bass opportunities are like on Lake Cavanaugh? I'm less familiar with Bass fishing but wanted to try it a bit more, and since we will be at the Lake for a couple of days. Thanks in advance and tight lines all!

Re: Lake Cavanaugh Fishing opportunities
Thanks RSeas for the kind words and fishing advice! We're looking forward to this outing. I had heard about the big Rainbows in Cavanaugh from some people a while back but didn't have the opportunity to check out the lake until now. I typically C&R unless the fish swallows the bait or something alon...

Lake Cavanaugh Fishing opportunities
Hey y'all! Was wondering if anyone has experience angling on Lake Cavanaugh? I'm going there for a weekend in May and will have access to a dock/ canoe/kayak. Nothing too crazy but have heard there are some big trout in the lake, as well as bass. It's my Fiance and I's Jack & Jill party (A combined ...

Re: Looking for carp in King County
Also Lake Union around any of the docks or piers. I see a group of carp almost everyday on my lunch break just swimming around, look pretty big too. Good luck!

Re: Rod/Reel for Salmon Fishing on WA Rivers
If you already have an 8'6" ugly stick, I'd suggest just upgrading the reel and use that setup til you're sure river fishing is for you. Those are decent rods and I've seen a lot of fish pulled in on them over the years and that Stik will give ya a lil bit more forgiveness while you learn how to fi...

Re: Rod/Reel for Salmon Fishing on WA Rivers
I believe it is a Shimano Syncopate 2500. Has 6lb test on it so I may need to re-spool the reel with something a bit stronger? If my current gear sounds suitable for the pinks i'll just roll with that and continue to reference this thread for building a larger rod/reel when targeting bigger Salmon l...

Re: Rod/Reel for Salmon Fishing on WA Rivers
Right now i have an 8'6" Ugly stik but it has a trout reel setup on it. Would that be ok for these tight spaces? It's rated 6-12lb test I believe. If that rod would work for this type of fishing I will happily continue to use it and just spend a little more on a quality reel and purchase the rod at ...

Re: Rod/Reel for Salmon Fishing on WA Rivers
Thanks again guys, the line tips are super useful too. Planning on goin' to purchase some gear on Friday then wake up early and try to check out the Snohomish to get in on the Pink Salmon action some point this weekend! Time to do some research and see where I can park and have some shore access for...

Re: Rod/Reel for Salmon Fishing on WA Rivers
Thanks for all the responses guys, I truly appreciate it! $200 isn't necessarily a hard budget since I have always loved fishing, just never had the time or financial resources to invest in it regularly. However, now it's a different story and I can spend a bit more and start to get out on the river...

Rod/Reel for Salmon Fishing on WA Rivers
Hi Guys! I am hoping to do some Salmon fishing this fall on some of the rivers over here in Western Washington, and was looking for a little advice on gear. Last fall I received tons of great tips on bait, lures, strategies, but unfortunately I was only able to get out to the rivers a couple of time...

Re: Fishing Lake Roosevelt
Novice question here: So when watching youtube videos regarding trout fishing on Lake Roosevelt it seems like almost every set up uses a dodger or flasher with hoochie/wedding ring set up at the end. Is it possible to A. Run this setup out of a Kayak/Canoe B. Possible to reach the necessary depths w...

Re: Fishing Lake Roosevelt
As each day goes by i'm getting more and more excited to fish Lake Roosevelt. As my boating options are limited to Kayak/Canoe, do you think it's still possible to target Kokanee? Not having a downrigger makes it difficult i'm sure, but I looked up a gear set up using a dipsy diver or jet diver to g...

Re: Fishing Lake Roosevelt
Thanks again Hewesfisher! Are there bass in the lake too? Worms & Crankbaits would those be suitable bait/gear options? Maybe I'll try to catch one of each species while i'm there, will be mostly C&R unless its a stocked trout! Lookin' forward to this trip.

Re: Fishing Lake Roosevelt
Thanks for the tips hewesfisher! Yeah mostly bank fishing i think. As far as rules and regs go i'm a total stickler, so thanks for the heads up on the adipose fin wouldn't want to keep anything were not supposed to. Looks like we will be launching from Seven Bays Marina. I'm just really excited to b...

Fishing Lake Roosevelt
Hi everyone, So myself and some of my friends are going up to Lake Roosevelt at the end of this month for a Bachelor party. A few of us like fishing so that's pretty much what we plan on doing all weekend. Was wondering if anyone has any pointers for fishing this body of water. It seems to be a pret...
